About Delight / Makoto’s Story

Our goal as a company/ohana is to spread aloha worldwide, one t-shirt a time!

We want the entire world to know the true meaning of aloha. It’s hello, it’s goodbye, it’s love, it is many things, but it’s also a way of living, a lifestyle, and it’s contagious! Each t-shirt we make is truly made with aloha from Hawaii. When wearing a Delight t-shirt, you are “spreading aloha one t-shirt at a time”, by sending a positive message to everyone who sees you.

Where did Delight Brand Clothing come from (Makoto’s story)?

Aloha everyone! My name is Makoto, born and raised in Hawai’i.
I started my company Delight Brand Clothing in 2011, which was about 1 year after I had my first child at the early age of 17...
Having a child so early in life came with A LOT of responsibility. I had just graduated high school in 2010, and being a fresh high school graduate, with no work experience, landing a ‘high paying’ job was highly unlikely. I ended up working a part time job for about 1 year that paid $7.25 an hour.
Every pay check I received, I put aside money that went towards buying t-shirt printing machinery.
When I finally had enough money, I went ALL IN (2011)!
Delight Brand Clothing has been my only ‘job’ since then. I truly enjoy what I do, and am grateful to God for allowing me to prosper for all these years.
